Race Report

RACE-6 THE CHIEFTAIN RATING 60-40 (CLASS 3&4) 1100 METRES (285)

INQUIRY:
The Stewards questioned Jockey A Calder the rider of 1 Fredda Star regarding his riding from the vicinity of the 500 metres, in particular his apparent lack of vigour. Jockey A Calder explained that 1 Fredda Star which was having its initial race start had not handled the shifting ground and from the 500 metres he had attempted to keep the horse balanced. He said that he would have preferred to shift wider to obtain better going but had been prevented by having a runner to his immediate outside. After entering the straight Jockey A Calder said that he had balanced 1 Fredda Star before using the whip but his mount had not quickened. After considering the explanation the Stewards advised Jockey A Calder his explanation would be noted.

VETERINARY:
5 Golden Kalbar (W T Pao) –A post race veterinary examination revealed that the horse had suffered a bleeding attack.
