Race Report

RACE-5 THE MILAN RATING 60-40 (CLASS 3&4) 1200 METRES (379)
At 10:01pm Mr. G Allendorf the trainer of 9 Let It Be advised that due to the wide barrier and the apparent speed in the race he had instructed Jockey A Calder if possible to obtain cover rather than racing wide. He added he anticipated 9 Let It Be might race worse than midfield.

6 Golden Bullet (K H Yu) –Near the 300 metres was forced to steady to avoid heels.
7 Golden Well Bo Bo (Apprentice Y M Choi) –Jumped awkwardly and shifted out brushing with 4 Magic Falcon and in doing so knuckled as their legs become entangled.
10 Magic Paul (W T Pao) –Passing the 400 metres was inconvenienced when brushed by 1

INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into the circumstances in which 6 Golden Bullet (K H Yu) was obliged to steady near the 300 metres. It was established that when attempting to improve outside 7 Golden Well Bo Bo, 5 Charming Beijing (R Curatolo) had shifted out into the running of 6 Golden Bullet which was forced to steady to avoid heels. After considering the evidence and reviewing the official vision, Jockey R Curatolo was reprimanded and advised in future to take greater care when shifting ground.

When questioned in regards to the extent of vigour used in his riding 6 Golden Bull from the 300 metres, Jockey K H Yu explained that despite racing forward his mount had not handled the going and after being steadied was reluctant to stretch out. After considering his explanation Jockey K H Yu was cautioned to in future ensure his mounts were ridden to the finish in accordance with the Rules.

When questioned Jockey L Corrales the rider of 3 Presentation explained that he been instructed to sit behind the lead if possible. He said he had been able to obtain this position, however in the straight 3 Presentation had not pick up in the going.

Apprentice Y M Choi the rider of 7 Golden Well Bo Bo explained that after stumbling shortly after the start his mount had been able to stride forward and reach the lead, however when racing inside 6 Golden Bullet (K H Yu) had been inclined to compete with that horse and race keenly. He said that on entering the straight when asked to quicken 7 Golden Well Bo Bo had sprinted briefly and thereafter had failed to respond to his riding.

VETERINARY:
3 Presentation (L Corrales) –A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
4 Magic Falcon (M Cangas) –A post race veterinary examination revealed that the horse was lame in the left foreleg. Trainer K W Chan was informed that the horse will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until a veterinary clearance is produced.
