Race Report

RACE-3 LISBOA SAND CHALLENGE (LISTED RACE) RATING 3&4YO (3&4 YEAR OLDS) 1350 METRES (111)

5 Sir Caspur (M Cangas) –Over raced during the early stages.
7 Pacers Bahhare (A Calder) –After being placed in the barriers, the gelding became fractious; It was removed from the barriers, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race.
8 Aberdeen (I Mosqueira) –On jumping away struck the left hand side of the barrier and was then slow to muster speed.
9 Super Buffet (Apprentice Y M Choi) –Was difficult to load delaying the start; Trainer M C Tam was notified that a warning had been placed against the horse and should it perform in a similar manner in future further action may be taken; Rider was reprimanded for accidentally dropping his whip near the 600 metres.

INQUIRY:
When questioned regarding the performance of 8 Aberdeen, Jockey I Mosqueira stated that the gelding had been standing in the barriers for quite some time prior to the gates being released and for this reason was slow to muster speed. He added that during the early stages 8 Aberdeen was not fluent in its action and he allowed the gelding to race where it was comfortable before putting in under pressure from the 800 metres. He further added that although responding to his riding 8 Aberdeen was one paced in the run to the finish and in his opinion would be better to suited on the turf over a longer distance.

When questioned regarding the performance of 1 Pak Lok Angel, Jockey R Curatolo stated that the gelding travelled nicely throughout the run, however when put under pressure failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing. Jockey R Curatolo was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts fully to the line.

VETERINARY:
1 Pak Lok Angel (R Curatolo) –A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer C F Chan was informed that he would be required to present the horse to the Veterinary Clinic for a thorough veterinary examination on Sunday, 7th December 2014.
4 Flaming Star (C Perkins) –A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
