Race Report

RACE-1 THE MORPHETVILLE RATING 40-20 (CLASS 5) 1500 METRES (153)
Jockey J Horjacada was given permission to ride 12 Kao's Star over its allotted weight as no other rider was available.

At 1:15pm Mr. S H Cheong the trainer of 11 Rivers Elite (K W Leong) informed the Stewards that 11 Rivers Elite (K W Leong) which had been racing towards the rear of the field and had failed to run will be ridden in a forward position today with a view of it being more competitive.

1 Mission Fame (L Corrales) –Rider reported that the horse travelled well throughout the race but was one paced and failed to respond to his riding when put under pressure and he believed this may have been due to its heavy weight.
2 Will Go On (M Cangas) –Shortly after the start had to be checked with tightened between 7 So True So Fake and 8 Tornado Force which shifted out.
3 Smart Ebony (B Yamzon) –Approaching the 1400 metres was hampered by 11 Rivers Elite which shifted out after being taken out by 7 So True So Fake.
5 Diamond Whirlwind (A Calder) –Near 100 metres was inconvenienced by 2 Will Go On which shifted out abruptly to obtain a clear run.
7 So True So Fake (R Curatolo) –Laid out rounding the home turn and a result presented a run on the rails for 10 Dance Day continued to lay out in the straight
11 Rivers Elite (K W Leong) –Settled midfield
12 Kao's Star (J Horcajada) –Raced wide without cover before compounding from the 600 metres; Rider reported his mount failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing; A post race veterinary examination and swab was ordered by the Stewards.

RACING INCIDENTS & INQUIRY:
Near 100 metres 5 Diamond Whirlwind (A Calder) was inconvenienced by 2 Will Go On (M Cangas) which shifted out abruptly to obtain a clear run. Jockey M Cangas was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of 2 Will Go On (M Cangas)
Trainer K Seo could offer no explanation, however advised that the gelding had been working well in the lead up to today’s event, was in a weaker field today and with the aid of a good ride performed better than at its most recent starts.

VETERINARY:
12 Kao's Star (J Horcajada) –A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
