Race Report

RACE-3 THE BLACKPOOL RATING 80-50 (CLASS 2&3) 1600 METRES (308)

2 Power Regimental (W L Ho) –Hung out rounding the home turn
3 Northern Legend (A Calder) – Disappointing performance; Rider stated that he could offer no real explanation other than in his opinion it would be suited to the turf track; A post race veterinary examination was ordered by the Stewards.
7 Will Go On (W Smith) –Refused to jump and took no competitive part in the event. Trainer K Seo was advised that the gelding is suspended from racing and until such time that it performs the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial.
8 Diamond Admire (M Cangas) –Laid in throughout the event.

INQUIRY:
Prior to correct weight, Jockey K H Yu the rider of 4 Belgrade Nights (4th place getter) viewed the official Stewards patrol film before deciding not to lodge an objection.

Prior to Correct Weight, Jockey L Corrales the rider of 5 Pacers Bahhare, the 2nd place getter viewed the official Stewards patrol film before lodging an objection against 2 Power Regimental (W L Ho) being declared the winner on the grounds of alleged interference at the top of the straight. After considering the evidence and viewing the films, it was established that near the 250 metres 5 Pacers Bahhare which had been held up behind 4 Belgrade Nights (K H Yu) then attempted a run between 4 Belgrade Nights and 2 Power Regimental which laid in, and where there was insufficient room and as a result had to be checked off the heels of 4 Belgrade Nights. As the Stewards were of the view that 5 Pacers Bahhare had never established a run to the outside of 4 Belgrade Nights, the objection was dismissed and correct weight was declared on the Judge’s placings.

Jockey W L Ho the rider of 2 Power Regimental pleaded guilty to charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that near the 250 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of 4 Belgrade Nights (K H Yu) which was tightened in onto 3 Northern Legend (A Calder) and having to be checked. Jockey W L Ho was suspended from riding in races for a period of 2 racemeetings covering the meetings of 12th and 19th June 2015. In laying the charge the Stewards acknowledged that there had been a slight shift out by 1 onto 3 Northern Legend however did not believe that this had a relevant bearing on the incident. During the incident 3 Northern Legend was also tightened for room and had to be steadied. He was advised of his Right of Appeal at 11:00pm.

VETERINARY:
3 Northern Legend (A Calder) –A post race veterinary examination of 3 Northern Legend which was disappointing failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
