Race Report

RACE-3 THE BARNSLEY RATING 70+ (CLASS 1) 1350 METRES (332)

2 Leisure Free (H Lam) –Disappointing performance; Rider reported that he had concerns with his mount’s action; A post race veterinary examination was ordered by the Stewards.
6 Easy Money (K H Yu) –Race three wide without cover.
7 Cali Champion (B Yamzon) – Poor performance; A post race veterinary examination was ordered by the Stewards; Trainer K M Chin was informed that 7 Cali Champion which was beaten in excess of 40 lengths will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed satisfactory in a barrier trial.
11 Sino Estrela (J Cordero) –Slow to begin.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Shortly after the start 7 Cali Champion (B Yamzon) was tightened for room between 9 Unbreakable (L Salles) and 6 Easy Money (K H Yu) which shifted out slightly before getting its hindquarters turned in, forcing that gelding out. During this incident 7 Cali Champion and 6 Easy Money both became extremely unbalanced. Shortly after this 9 Unbreakable (L Salles) and 7 Cali Champion were both placed in restricted room between 3 Luen Yat Everwin (Apprentice Y M Choi) and 6 Easy Money which continued to have its hindquarters turned inwards forcing that gelding out. The rider of that gelding was then unable to relieve the pressure as he was tracing tight to the outside of 5 Healthy Life (W L Ho) which also became extremely unbalanced. At this time 3 Luen Yat Everwin laid in away from 10 Korean Dream (W Smith) which was shifting in to obtain a position closer to the rail. As a result of this tightening 7 Cali Champion clipped the heels of 6 Easy Money and almost fell. 4 Sheng Li Win (C Perkins) which was following was inconvenienced. As Stewards did not hold any rider responsible for this incident, no action was taken however all riders were advised that they must exercise the utmost care at all times.

VETERINARY:
2 Leisure Free (H Lam) – A post race veterinary examination of 2 Leisure Free which was disappointing failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
7 Cali Champion (B Yamzon) A post race veterinary examination of 7 Cali Champion which was disappointing failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
