Race Report

RACE-5 THE LENS RATING 50-30 (CLASS 4&5) 1500 METRES (340)

2 Gold Selection (J Cordero) – Over raced during the early stages; Rider explained that the gelding carried 130lbs tonight which was significantly heavier than at its last start and this may have been the reason for its somewhat disappointing performance tonight.
3 Good Racing (B Yamzon) – Was marginally slow to begin and then hampered by 5 Hit The Bull (R Curatolo) which shifted out slightly.
9 Road To Victory (L Salles) – Rider L Salles was severely reprimanded for accidentally dropping his whip at the top of the straight; The Stewards took into account that he had not been spoken too in regards to dropping his whip before.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Prior to correct weight Jockey R Curatolo the rider of 5 Hit The Bull (4th placed horse) viewed the video patrol before lodging an objection against the 3rd placed horse 7 Golden Fifty Six (C F Chan) alleging interference in the straight. It was established that near the 200 metres 5 Hit The Bull when attempting to improve into a run between 7 Golden Fifty Six (C F Chan) and 4 The Dragon (C F Wong) was tightened for room and checked when 7 Golden Fifty Six shifted in slightly and 4 The Dragon then shifted out slightly. As the Stewards could not be satisfied that the interference suffered was greater than the margin of ¾ of a length and that the interference was solely caused by 7 Golden Fifty Six, the objection was dismissed.
