Race Report

RACE-1 THE ALTRUISTIC RATING 50-0 (CLASS 4,5&6) 1200 METRES (378)

1 Fortune Target (Apprentice K Y Wong) – Was marginally slow to begin and failed to maintain contact with the body of the field. Jockey K Y Wong stated that the mare has a light mouth and raced the first 50 metres with its head up. Stewards notified the rider that he should show greater endeavour and place his mount under pressure in the early stages rather than allow getting too far out of its ground; He was also advised that he had every opportunity to stay on the rail however his mount raced wide unnecessarily. K Y Wong ride will be referred to master of apprentice Mr. H Troy.
4 Turquoise Heart (R Stewart) – Threw its head up when the gates were released and lost some ground; Was held up for some distance rounding the home turn when unable to obtain a clear run.
5 Modena Creation (C Perkins) - Shifted out on jumping away and brushed 7 Cheerful Companion (W Smith) and lost some ground; Commenced to hang out after passing the 800 metres. A result got its head in the air and became unbalanced when being steadied by its rider.
6 Best Double (L Salles) – Race keenly during the middle stages; Performed below market expectation, rider reported that the horse did not respond to his riding in the straight.
8 Concentration (K H Yu) –Near the 200 metres shifted in when being struck with the whip and then had to be checked off heels of 6 Best Double (L Salles); Rider K H Yu has been advised to exercise more care at all times.

RACING INQUIRY:
Prior to correct weight connections of 3 China Cheers (W L Ho) viewed the official patrol video with the view to lodging an objection against 4 Turquoise Heart (R Stewart) being declared the winner on the grounds of alleged interference rounding the home turn. After viewing the films the connections did not proceed with the objection. Stewards also were satisfied that there were insufficient grounds for an objection and correct weight was declared on the judges’ placings. It was established that after passing 400 metres 4 Turquoise Heart which were be held up shifted out slightly and made contact with 3 China Cheers.
