Race Report

RACE-1 THE FULHAM RATING 50-0 (SPECIAL) 1500 METRES (376)
BEST TREASURE (H LAM) and COCO ROCKS (L CORRALES) both jumped awkwardly.
WORLD MONSTER (W SMITH) jumped awkwardly, then shortly after the start was steadied when TWININGOCEANSTARBO (M NUNES) shifted out slightly.
When questioned in regards to the reason why DANCE DAY (A HELFENBEIN) had raced further forward today, Trainer G ALLENDORF explained that from the good barrier he instructed his rider to place the horse wherever it was comfortable. He said that prior to the race he expected the horse would be racing just behind the lead, however it was able to obtain the lead without being placed under any significant pressure. His explanations were noted.
When questioned Jockey W SMITH the rider of WORLD MONSTER explained that he had been instructed to allow the horse to travel where it was comfortable. He said for that reason he did not urge it out of the barrier, however shortly after the start he received some interference which resulted in him racing further back in the field than he anticipated. He added that after receiving this interference he did not ride his mount along in an effort to improve his position as he felt that was contrary to his instructions and also there were a number of runners crossing from his outside and he believed that an endeavor to obtain a position inside those runners prior to the first turn may have resulted in his horse receiving further interference. Trainer M C TAM confirmed the instructions as outlined by Jockey W SMITH and said he had formulated those instructions after the horse had been disappointing at its last start when it had been ridden along early in the race to try and obtain a forward position. Their explanations were noted.
