Race Report

RACE-5 THE AYER ROCK RATING 80-60 (CLASS 2&3) 1500 METRES (78)
MAGNIFICENT FORCE (K K LAI) and THEOLOGY (T PEREIRA) jumped awkwardly.
MAGNIFICENT FORCE (K K LAI) raced wide rounding the home turn.
Rounding the home turn and in the home straight GREAT TIGER (A HELFENBEIN) was badly held up and near the 250 metres was checked when awkwardly placed close to the heels of GOLDEN SPIRITUAL (K M CHIN). Thereafter GREAT TIGER (A HELFENBEIN) continued to be held up and was unable to be fully tested.
EXCEL (B YAMZON) raced wide for the majority of the race.
Mr. P LEYSHAN the trainer of RAYSON and Jockey L CORRALES the rider of RAYSON were both found guilty of having breached MJC Rule 14 (xvii)(a) for negligence in that they had failed to notify the Stewards of a change of tactics adopted on RAYSON today, in particular the horse’s racing in a more forward position than normal. In accessing penalty, the Stewards took into account that RAYSON was racing in blinkers on the first occasion for some time and this may have resulted in the horse racing further forward than intended, however Trainer P LEYSHAN was issued with a fine of HK$6,000 and he was advised of his Right of Appeal at 5:20pm. Jockey L CORRALES was issued with reprimand and reminded that a similar breach in future may lead to more serious action being taken.
