Race Report

RACE-4 PENANG TURF CLUB GOODWILL CUP (SAND) RATING 60-40 (CLASS 3&4) 1350 METRES (310)
1 Giant Steps (W L Ho)-Approaching the 400 metres was obliged to ease away from heels.
3 Ka Wo Fortune (H Lam)-Jumped awkwardly. Raced wide throughout the event.
4 My Cup Of Tea (C Perkins)-Was incline to rear on jumping away.
5 Good Racing (R Silvera)-Knuckled on jumping.
12 Truly Heart (Apprentice C F Wong)-Raced wide throughout the event.

INQUIRY:
Jockey R Silvera explained that 5 Good Racing had been under pressure to maintain a position close to the lead however from the vicinity of 700 metres when it received kickback his mount had failed to race genuinely thereafter.

L Corrales, the rider of 10 Oriental Paris was questioned of his riding from the 100 metres to the finish. He explained his mount had worked to lead and after being allowed to give 10 Oriental Paris a breather he was obliged to ride vigorously from the vicinity of 500 meters. He stated that approaching the 100 metres his mount was inclined to lay in marginally and eased when crowded for room at which point he had considered his mount had nothing to offer. After considering this explanation and reviewing the official vision, the Stewards accepted that 10 Oriental Paris had been fully tested but caution L Corrales to ensure in future to ride his mount to the finish as apply by the rules.
