Race Report

RACE-4 THE GUARULHOS (DIV.2) RATING 80-60 (CLASS 2&3) 1200 METRES (366)

4 I Got Pictures (A Calder) –Approaching the 200 metres was inconvenienced when taken out.
9 Sharon Star (Apprentice Y M Choi) –Raced wide throughout; Cast its left hind plate.
10 War Heights (R Curatolo) –Jumped awkwardly.
11 Power Alkhafif (C F Chan) – Acting on veterinary advice that the horse was lame in the right foreleg, the Stewards ordered its withdrawal on 3:44pm. Trainer K W Chan was informed that the horse will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until a veterinary clearance is produced.
12 Sunshine Region (M Cangas) –Was slow to jump; Raced wide throughout.

INQUIRY:
The Stewards questioned Jockey A Calder the rider of 4 I Got Pictures regarding his riding of that horse in the early stages of the race. Jockey A Calder stated that he had been instructed to go back to mid field and attempt to obtain cover due to the apparent pace in this event. Jockey A Calder admitted that his mount settled further back than he had intended however noted that 9 Sharon Star (Apprentice Y M Choi) which was drawn to his immediate inside although pushed forward travelled five wide throughout the event. He added that 4 I Got Pictures had not really travelled until the vicinity of the 600 metres and in the straight had ran on under pressure. The Stewards will interview Trainer G Allendorf on Tuesday afternoon as to the reason for his failure to advise Stewards of the apparent change of riding instructions.

VETERINARY:
3 Golden Double (W L Ho) –A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
10 War Heights (R Curatolo) –A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
12 Sunshine Region (M Cangas) –A post race veterinary examination revealed that the horse was lame in the right hind leg. Trainer Y Y Choy was informed that the horse will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until a veterinary clearance is produced.
