Race Report

RACE-1 THE TRIVANDRUM RATING 30-0 (CLASS 5&6) 1200 METRES (423)
1 Idea Of The Good (R Curatolo)-Near the 1000 metres was steadied as it improve onto heels.
3 Brilliant Thought (W L Ho)-Approaching the 300 metres was unable to obtain clear ground and was obliged to alter course.
6 Aluminium Alloy (H Lam)-Approaching the finish was inconvenienced when tightened for room for some distance and eventually eased.
7 Mighty Thor (K H Yu)-Near the 1000 metres raced greenly and became awkward for several strides when shifting in towards the rail. Approaching the finish was inconvenienced when contacted turning its hindquarters out.

INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident approaching the finish in which 6 Aluminium Alloy (H Lam) was forced to steady when tightened for room. It was established that inside the 100 metres when attempting to improve outside the heels of 4 Dragon Rhyne (B Yamzon), 3 Brilliant Thought (W L Ho) was initially taken out by 4 Dragon Rhyne resulting in it racing against 6 Aluminium Alloy. Under riding 3 Brilliant Thought continued out tightening 6 Aluminium Alloy onto 7 Mighty Thor (K H Yu) turning that horse’s hindquarters out. After considering the evidence, reviewing the official vision and having regard to all the circumstances the Stewards issued W L Ho a reprimand and he was advised in similar circumstances in future to show his fellow riders greater respect.

Stewards sought an explanation from Jockey R Silvera regarding to his failure to arrive on course ride on horse to the time prescribed. After considering his explanation R Silvera was charged a breach of Rule 47(i). R Silvera pleaded guilty and was fined HK$10,000. In determining this penalty the Stewards acknowledged it was the rider first offence of this nature and his plea of guilt.

The Stewards inquired into an incident near the 1000 metres in which 1 Idea Of The Good (R Curatolo) had clipped the heels of 7 Mighty Thor (K H Yu). It was established that as 7 Mighty Thor shifted in it was initially sufficiently clear of 1 Idea Of The Good, however in taking the position near the inside rail 7 Mighty Thor had lost momentum for a stride resulting in 1 Idea Of The Good clipping its heels dragging it down. After considering the evidence, reviewing the official vision and having regard to all the circumstances, Stewards considered no rider to be culpable and took no action.

VETERINARY:
1 Idea Of The Good (R Curatolo)-A post race veterinary examination revealed that the horse casted its left front plate.
4 Dragon Rhyne (B Yamzon)-A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
6 Aluminium Alloy (H Lam)-A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse cast its right front plate.
7 Mighty Thor (K H Yu)-A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse had a laceration to its left hind pastern and was lame in the left hind leg. Trainer W T Lai was informed that the horse will not be permitted to race for 11 days until it has obtained a veterinary certificate.
8 Chubby Cousin (M Cangas)- A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
