Race Report

RACE-2 THE MURWILLUMBAH RATING 40-20 (CLASS 5) 1100 METRES (148)

2 Nonpareil (R Curatolo) –Rider could offer no real explanation for the disappointing performance of the gelding today other than it may not have backed up after last week’s run; Underwent a swab and post race veterinary examination ordered by the Stewards.
3 Wine Buddies (C F Wong) –Jumped awkwardly.
7 Golden Cornered (W T Pao) –Stood flat footed when the gates were released and lost considerable ground. Rider reported his saddle shifted during the race; Trainer K Seo was informed that a warning was being placed against 7 Golden Cornered for its barrier manners today and should it perform in a similar manner in future, action may be taken.
8 Valiant Fighter (Apprentice K Y Wong) -Was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon at the barriers after striking the running rail was passed fit to run; Raced excessively wide throughout the event. Apprentice K Y Wong was informed that his ride was being referred to the Master of Apprentices, H Troy for remedial training.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
On jumping away 2 Nonpareil (R Curatolo) and 8 Valiant Fighter (Apprentice K Y Wong) came together due to both horses shifting ground. Shortly after the start 2 Nonpareil and 8 Valiant Fighter again came together when both horses shifted.

VETERINARY:
2 Nonpareil (R Curatolo) A post race veterinary examination of Nonpareil which had performed below expectation failed to reveal any significant abnormality
7 Golden Cornered (W T Pao) –A post race veterinary examination at the request of the rider failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
