Race Report

RACE-5 THE ELECTRIC RATING 40-20 (CLASS 5) 1050 METRES (274)

1 Colina Da Penha (A Calder) –Hung out rounding the turn and in the straight.
2 Great Party (W T Pao) –Laid out rounding the home turn.
3 Beautiful Illusion (L Corrales)
4 Liver Pool (Apprentice Y M Choi) –Which was restless in the barriers was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to run.
5 Red Elite (C F Wong) –Disappointing performance; A post race veterinary examination was ordered by the Stewards.
6 One From Many (W Smith) –Was slow to begin.
9 Ratnaraj (K W Leong) –Laid out rounding the home turn.
11 Valiant Fighter (Apprentice K Y Wong) – Was withdrawn at 3:45pm acting on veterinary advice when it was found to be lame in the right foreleg. Trainer Pat Lee was informed that the horse will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it a veterinary certificate is produce.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Prior to “Correct Weight” the Stewards viewed the patrol films before lodging an objection on behalf of the connections of the 5th placegetter 2 Great Party (W T Pao) against the 3rd placegetter 8 Glory Moment (K H Yu) for alleged interference in the home straight. On the evidence, it was established that approaching the 200 metres 8 Glory Moment shifted in when being ridden along bumping 2 Great Party and taking that gelding in off its course. Again inside the 100 metres 8 Glory Moment shifted in and made contact with 2 Great Party which was taken in further and became unbalanced. At the winning post 8 Glory Moment again shifted in and made contact with 2 Great Party. As the Stewards believed that the interference suffered by 2 Great Party was greater than the beaten margin of a short head by a nose, the objection was upheld and the Judge’s placings were amended to read:

1st 3 Beautiful Illusion (L Corrales)
2nd 9 Ratnaraj (K W Leong)
3rd 10 Lithium Alloy (H Lam)
4th 2 Great Party (W T Pao)
5th 8 Glory Moment (K H Yu)

At a later inquiry, Jockey K H Yu the rider of 8 Glory Moment was severely reprimanded and notified that he must make a far greater effort to keep his mounts straight when in similar circumstances in future.
Jockey W T Pao the rider of 2 Great Party was advised of his options to review the Stewards film footage prior to correct weight in regards to lodging an objection.

Near the 900 metres 1 Colina Da Penha (A Calder) was hampered and became unbalanced when taken in by 9 Ratnaraj (K W Leong) which was also taken in by 4 Liver Pool (Apprentice Y M Choi) which shifted in before being straighten by its rider. Apprentice Y M Chio the rider of 4 Liver Pool was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future.

VETERINARY:
5 Red Elite (C F Wong) – A post race veterinary examination of 5 Red Elite which was disappointing revealed that the horse had suffered a bleeding attack.
