RACE-3 THE MANCHESTER RATING 50-30 (CLASS 4&5) 1200 METRES (326)

2 My Cup Of Tea (B Yamzon) –Was marginally slow to begin.
3 Happy Alloy (H Lam) – Near the 200 metres shifted out and brushed 4 More Than Happy
5 Ratnaraj (W L Ho) – Rider could offer no real excuses for the poor performance; A post race veterinary examination was ordered by the Stewards.
6 Cool Brother (A Calder) –Near the 900 metres was inconvenienced by 10 Charming Shanghai which shifted out; Approaching the 500 metres and until near the 400 metres was held up for some distance when unable to improve its position.
8 Happy Proposal (C F Chan) –Over raced during the early and middle stages.
9 Sandy Beach (K W Leong) –Was slow to begin.
10 Charming Shanghai (J Cordero) –Raced wide without cover throughout.

INQUIRY:
Prior to Correct Weight, Jockey W T Pao the rider of 4 More Than Happy ( 2nd place getter) viewed the official Stewards’ patrol film before lodging an objection against 3 Happy Alloy (H Lam) being declared the winner on the grounds of alleged interference inside the final 200 metres. After considering the evidence and viewing the films, it was established that 3 Happy Alloy shifted out and bumped 4 More Than Happy after passing the 50 metres and again near the winning post bumped that gelding which became unbalanced for one stride. As the Stewards did not believe that any interference suffered by 4 More Than Happy was greater than the beaten margin of half a length, the objection was dismissed and correct weight was declared on the Judge’s placing.

At a later inquiry, Jockey H Lam was severely reprimanded and notified that he must make a greater effort to avoid causing interference in future

VETERINARY:
5 Ratnaraj (W L Ho) A post race veterinary examination of 5 Ratnaraj which performed poorly failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
