Race Report

RACE-5 THE IPSWICH RATING 60-40 (CLASS 3&4) 1400 METRES (328)

1 Magician Code (A Calder) –Was slow to begin.
3 Sunshine Godsend (R Stewart) –Disappointing performance; Rider could offer no real excuses.
5 Great Tiger (J Cordero) –Raced three wide without cover from the 900 metres.
6 The Mighty (L Corrales) –Raced keenly through the middle stages.
7 Sure Win (K H Yu) –Was held up for a short distance passing the 700 metres.
9 Crowning Mission (W L Ho) –Shortly after the start was tightened for room between 4 Super Giant Star and 8 Golden Bullet, both of which shifted ground; Approaching the winning post was inconvenienced by 12 Mission Fame which shifted out.

INQUIRY:
Jockey K H Yu the rider of 7 Sure Win pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132(i), in that after passing the 400 metres he permitted his mount to shifted out thereby taking 2 So Sweet (L Salles) out onto 3 Sunshine Godsend (R Stewart), which in turn shifted out resulting in 5 Great Tiger (J Cordero) having to check off heels. Jockey K H Yu was suspended from riding in races for a period of 2 racemeetings to cover the meetings of 19th & 20th June 2015. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey Yu’s guilty plea and recent good record. Jockey Yu was advised of his Right of Appeal.

VETERINARY:
3 Sunshine Godsend (R Stewart) –A post race veterinary examination of 3 Sunshine Godsend which was disappointing failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
