Race Report

RACE-5 THE NORTHERN SPUR (DIV.2) RATING 40-20 (CLASS 5) 1500 METRES (382)

3 Great Nature (M Cangas) -Was slow to jump; Cast its left hind plate.
6 Happy Soldiers (R B Woodworth) -Cast its right hind plate.

8 Shadow Master (R Silvera) -Reared as the gates opened and shortly after the start was inconvenienced when brushed on a number of occasions.
14 Golden Bingo (W L Ho) -Shortly after the start was inconvenience as its hindquarters were turned out when brushed.

INQUIRY:
Jockey K W Leong the rider of 11 Sunshine Sunrise was questioned in regards to the level of vigour applied to his mount in the straight. Jockey K W Leong indicated that in riding his mount in trackwork it had an uneven gait and it was his understanding that the trainer was intending to retire the horse after this race. After considering the evidence, Jockey K W Leong was cautioned and reminded of his obligation to ensure all his mounts are fully tested in future.

Jockey K Abobo the rider of 10 My Eternal Flame which lead in contrast to its previous start explained that he had been instructed to go forward and if the option present for it to lead, do so. He stated that he was surprised that 10 My Eternal Flame found the lead readily in contrast to its previous start and added that his instructions were consistent to that given to him previously. Trainer W T Lai confirmed these instructions.

VETERINARY:
1 Mission Brahma (L Jurado) -The Veterinary Surgeon reported that it had blood coming out of its right nostril after the race.
11 Sunshine Sunrise (K W Leong) -Trainer informed to present horse to the Veterinary Clinic for a thorough veterinary examination on Monday, 1st July 2013.
