Race Report

RACE-2 THE KILBEGGAN (DIV.2) RATING 60-40 (CLASS 3&4) 1100 METRES (29)

3 China Cheers (K K Lai) -Inside 700 metres brushed the running rail and became awkward for several strides.
5 Sharp Spear (W L Ho) - Inside the 800 metres was forced to steady when tightened for room and shortly after was inconvenienced by runners to his inside shifting out.
6 Sunshineprosperous (L Jurado) -Inside 700 metres brushed the running rail and became awkward for several strides.
7 Wealthy Boy (R Stewart) -Was examined behind the barriers by the Veterinary Surgeon and ruled fit to start; Making the turn inside the 700 metres was hampered when tightened for room; raced wide for the majority of the race.
9 Accelera (Lei Kin Meng) -Making the turn inside the 700 metres when it was inclined to lay out, shifted out.
11 Beautiful Alloy (H Lam) -Raced wide throughout the event.
12 Keep It Rolling (W T Pao) -Raced wide throughout the event.

INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into the circumstances in which 5 Sharp Spear (W L Ho) was forced to steady inside the 800 metres. The Stewards established that 5 Sharp Spear was forced to steady when tightened for room by 11 Beautiful Alloy (H Lam) which rolled in after being tightened by 10 I Got Pictures (M Cangas) which shifted in. After considering the evidence and reviewing the official vision Jockey M Cangas was reprimanded and advised in future to take greater care when shifting ground.

Jockey A Calder the rider of 8 Let It Be stated that he had been instructed from the awkward barrier to allow his mount to settle where it was comfortable with the expectation he would position midfield. He explained that due to pace of the race, 8 Let It Be had settled a little further back than he had expected and was off the bridle for most of the race. He added that 8 Let It Be had ran on under pressure and might be suited in a longer race.
