Race Report

RACE-3 THE KILLARNEY RATING 60-30 (CLASS 3&4) 1800 METRES (30)

1 Vigorous Momentum (W L Ho) -Shortly after the start was hampered when contacted by 4 Really Powerful.
4 Really Powerful (L Corrales) -Jumped awkwardly and then shortly after the start shifted out abruptly and contacted 1 Vigorous Momentum. In the early and middle stages was inclined to lay out.

INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into the circumstance 1 Vigorous Momentum (W L Ho) was checked losing its momentum in the vicinity of the 200 metres. The Stewards established that after brushing on several occasions when racing against 8 Magnificent Force (K K Lai) as that runner shifted out, 1 Vigorous Momentum was forced to check to avoid the heels of that horse as it shifted out under riding and at the same time that 3 Turquoise Dane (B Yamzon) improved to the outside of 1 Vigorous Momentum. Jockey K K Lai was charged with careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that he permitted 8 Magnificent Force to shift ground when insufficiently clear. Jockey K K Lai pleaded guilty and was suspended from riding in races for a period of 2 racemeetings to take effect from 18th & 19th October 2013. He was advised of his Right of Appeal at 4:19pm.

VETERINARY:
2 Laughing World (L Jurado) -A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
5 Sunshine Cheers (Apprentice Y M Choi) -A post race veterinary examination revealed that the horse was making respiratory noises. Trainer K C Hoi was informed that he would be required to present the horse to the Veterinary Clinic for a thorough veterinary examination.
