Race Report

RACE-7 THE BOURKE (DIV.2) RATING 80-60 (CLASS 2&3) 1200 METRES (53)

3 Top Vegetable (A Calder) –In the early stages raced keenly.
9 Charming Shanghai (K Abobo) -The rider reported that from the 800 metres his mount lost ground as it was reluctant to hold its position inside other runners.
10 Hostwin Delight (W T Pao) -The rider reported that the horse would be better suited over a longer journey. A warning was placed on the horse for its unsatisfactory performance and Trainer Y C Fung was informed that should the horse perform in a similar manner in future, action may be taken against horse.
12 Sherwood (W L Ho) –Was slow to jump.

INQUIRY:
Jockey A Calder the rider of 3 Top Vegetable explained due to the apparent pace in the race he had intended to try and obtain cover if possible, however shortly after the start when intending to restrain between 8 Golden Bullet (K W Leong) and 5 Lobor Treasure (R Stewart) which were being ridden aggressively 3 Top Vegetable would not relax and come back. He stated that in the straight 3 Top Vegetable was quickly under pressure and in his opinion this was caused by the horse’s over racing in the early stages.

VETERINARY:
4 Sunshine Charming (Apprentice Y M Choi) – A post race veterinary examination revealed that the horse had suffered a bleeding attack.
3 Top Vegetable (A Calder) – A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
