Race Report

RACE-1 THE QUIRINDI MAIDEN 1500 METRES (47)

1 Salon (L Corrales) - Approaching the 1200 metres was forced to check losing its position when tightened for room. After entering the straight had difficulty in obtaining clear running for a short distance.
3 Sunshine Commander (Apprentice Y M Choi) – Was inclined to rear when the gates opened.
5 Eastern Luck (H Lam) – Trainer K C Hoi was informed that the horse will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed satisfactorily in a barrier trial.
6 Golden Double (W L Ho) - Approaching the 1200 metres was inclined to lay in away from 7 Keep It Rolling to its outside.
7 Keep It Rolling (K M Chin) – Dislodged its rider prior the start. Rider was examined by the Club’s Medical Officer and passed fit to continue riding.

Prior to declaration of weight Jockey L Corrales the rider of 1 Salon and Trainer C F Chan viewed the official vision in the vicinity of the 1200 metres.

INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into the circumstances in which 1 Salon (L Corrales) was tightened for room when racing inside 6 Golden Double (W L Ho). It was established that as the field joined the inside rail of the course proper, 1 Salon changed lead legs and commenced to shift out at the same time as 6 Golden Double commenced to lay in resulting in 1 Salon commencing to race in restricted room and being awkward on the heels of 6 Golden Double. Shortly after 6 Golden Double which continued to lay in shifted away from 7 Keep It Rolling (K M Chin) as that horse improved to its outside resulting in 6 Golden Double taking the running of 1 Salon which was forced to check. After considering the evidence and reviewing the vision the Stewards issued Jockey K M Chin with a reprimand and advised him to take greater care when shifting ground. In making this determination the Stewards considered the racing manners of 1 Salon and 6 Golden Double had contributed to the incident.

VETERINARY:
2 Baby (A Calder) - A post race veterinary examination reveal that the horse had suffered a bleeding attack.
3 Sunshine Commander (Apprentice Y M Choi) - A post race veterinary examination reveal that the horse had suffered a bleeding attack.
4 Mikesan (R Stewart) - A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
5 Eastern Luck (H Lam) - A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
