Race Report

RACE-2 THE RANDWICK 3&4-YEAR-OLD RATING 55-0 (CLASS 4,5&6) 1100 METRES (68)

3 Total Management (W L Ho) -Near the 700 metres over raced and was restrained when awkwardly placed on the heels of 8 Sunshine Blaze which shifted out slightly.
4 Brave Panda (R Silvera) -Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of the race; Hung out rounding the home turn; Leaving the 200 metres hung in under pressure and proved difficult to ride out; Rider reported that near the 600 metres the outside part of the bit fractured as a result he was disadvantaged for the remainder of the race.
5 Great Idea (H Lam) -Raced greenly in the early stages; Near the 700 metres hung out despite the efforts of its rider forcing 9 Sunshine Mighty wider on the track. Trainer S Chow was informed that the horse will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed satisfactorily in a barrier trial.
7 River Fortune (W T Pao) -Hampered shortly after the start by 10 Yu Long Bao Ma which was taken out by 8 Sunshine Blaze.
8 Sunshine Blaze (K K Lai) –Jumped awkwardly, shifted out and made contact with 10 Yu Long Bao Ma; A short distance later shifted out and away from 1 Sunshine Champion resulting in further contact being made to 10 Yu Long Bao Ma; Raced keenly in the early stages.
9 Sunshine Mighty (R Curatolo) -Inconvenienced and taken wider near the 700 metres; Raced wide for the majority of the race.
10 Yu Long Bao Ma (A Calder) -Bumped on jumping away and shortly after the start was hampered by 8 Sunshine Blaze which shifted out.

INQUIRY
The Stewards inquired into an incident shortly after the start where horses 10 Yu Long Bao Ma (A Calder) and 7 River Fortune (W T Pao) were hampered and tightened for room. It was established that shortly after the start 8 Sunshine Blaze (K K Lai) shifted out and made contact with 10 Yu Long Bao Ma. A short distance later 8 Sunshine Blaze then shifted out and away from 1 Sunshine Champion (L Corrales) which shifted out slightly resulting in 10 Yu Long Bao Ma being further hampered and taken out making contact with 7 River Fortune which lost its position. After considering the evidence the Stewards could not attribute the blame to anyone rider, nevertheless, all riders were advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
