Race Report

RACE-1 THE INVERNESS RATING SPECIAL (SPECIAL) 1200 METRES (180)

At 1:52pm Mr K C Chong the trainer of Sharon Winner advised the Stewards that he would instruct Jockey C Perkins to attempt to be positive from the barriers and likely would settle more forward than in recent starts in order to take advantage of the good draw.

2 Charming Shanghai (R Curatolo) –When making the turn near the 700 metres was inconvenienced when tightened onto 12 Sunshine Yao Yang.
5 Sunshine Dragon (W L Ho) –Making the turn near the 700 metres was inconvenienced when tightened onto 12 Sunshine Yao Yang.
7 Mission Fame (Apprentice Y M Choi) –Was slow to jump.
8 Sharon Winner (C Perkins) –In the vicinity of the 700 metres for some distance raced tight inside 12 Sunshine Yao Yang as that horse raced greenly between runners; Making the turn inside the 700 metres brushed the running rail and was checked when tightened for room.

10 It's A Round World (H Lam) –The rider reported that when making ground from the 600 metres was inclined to lay out.
11 Wine Buddies (R Silvera) –Trainer Y C Fung was informed that the horse will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed satisfactorily in a barrier trial.
12 Sunshine Yao Yang (S G Cho) –For some distance in the vicinity of the 700 metres was inclined to race greenly when in restricted room between runners.

INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into interference suffered by 8 Sharon Winner (C Perkins) in the vicinnty of the 700 metres. It was established that initially 8 Sharon Winner had been tightened by 12 Sunshine Yao Yang which raced ungenerously between runners. 8 Sharon Winner then brushed the running rail and was obliged to check when tightened by 2 Charming Shanghai (R Curatolo) which laid in and away from 6 Fast Mi (Apprentice C F Wong). At the same time 4 Sure Win (K H Yu) shifted in onto 5 Sunshine Dragon (W L Ho) taking that horse in tightening 12 Sunshine Yao Yang. As the Stewards considered the racing manners of 12 Sunshine Yao Yang had contributed to the circumstances of 8 Sharon Winner brushing the running rail and that Jockey R Curatolo had made an urgent and reasonable amount to correct his mount when it laid in, he was reprimanded and advised to take greater care when shifting ground. Jockey K H Yu the rider of 4 was reprimanded and advised against permitting his mounts to shift ground when insufficiently clear.

8 Sharon Winner (C Perkins) –A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
11 Wine Buddies (R Silvera)–A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
