RACE-5 THE CLYDE RATING 80-60 (CLASS 2&3) 1200 METRES (184)

2 Great Tiger (C Perkins) –After entering the straight had difficulty obtaining clear ground;Approaching the 200 metres became held up for a short distance behind 8 Grand Business; Inside the 200 metres was disappointed and obliged to alter course when attempting to improve inside 9 Gold Coast; Was not fully tested.
3 Theology (Apprentice C F Wong) –In the vicinity of the 600 metres was obliged to ease off heels.
4 Turquoise Profit (K H Yu) –Raced wide throughout the event.
9 Gold Coast (W L Ho) –Reared as the gates opened.
11 Hostwin Donatello (R Curatolo) –Jumped awkwardly.

INQUIRY
Jockey A Calder the rider of 8 Grand Business which was having its initial race start explained he was instructed to attempt to race forward and obtain a trailing position if possible. He stated that after jumping awkwardly due to the position of the horses around him he had been unable to be as forward as instructed, however his mount had travelled well until the 400 metres after which it had raced greenly. He said that whereas the horse had not been entirely happy making ground between runners in the straight, in the future it would benefit from this race experience.

VETERINARY:
2 Great Tiger (C Perkins) –A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
5 Power Alkhafif (L Corrales) –A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
9 Gold Coast (W L Ho) –A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse was making respiratory noises. Trainer P C Choi was informed to present the horse to the Veterinary Clinic for a thorough veterinary examination on Sunday, 26th January 2014.
