Race Report

RACE-4 THE CLYDEBANK RATING 60-40 (CLASS 3&4) 1100 METRES (183)

4 My Cup Of Tea (J Mathews) –Shortly after the start was hampered and became unbalanced when its hindquarters was turned out when contacted.
7 King Me (W T Pao) –Reared as the gates opened
8 Hanigan (S G Cho) –Jumped very awkwardly, was inconvenienced when contacted by 4 My Cup Of Tea.
9 Luen Yat Towkay (Apprentice Y M Choi) –In the vicinity of the 800 metres when laying away from runners to its outside contacted the running rail for several stride and became unbalanced. Thereafter raced greenly for a short distance. Trainer K C Wong was informed that the horse will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed satisfactorily in a barrier trial.

INQUIRY:
Jockey S G Cho the rider of 8 Hanigan explained his mount had travelled well early but had been inclined to lay out and added that after losing its position approaching the 400 metres had not finished the race of quite as strongly as he had expected.

The Stewards inquired into the circumstance 8 Hanigan (S G Cho) was steadied and then lost its position racing to the 400 metres. It was established that 8 Hanigan had initially being eased when 5 Power Sequalo (K H Yu) rolled in marginally and shortly after was then obliged to steady as 5 Power Sequalo had been taken in marginally by 1 Toy's Power (C Perkins). Jockey S G Cho stated that when being steadied 8 Hanigan had been inclined to overreact and in the second instance had shifted out across the heels of 5 Power Sequalo. As Stewards were satisfied that the racing manners of 8 Hanigan had contributed to incident, no action was taken, however both Jockeys K H Yu and C Perkins were cautioned against riding unnecessarily tight.

VETERINARY:
1 Toy's Power (C Perkins) – A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
