Race Report

RACE-4 4YO Prelude (GROUP 3) 4YO (No Freelance/Apprentice Jockeys Allowances) 1500 METRES (223)

1 Hostwin Donatello (R Curatolo) –Near the 1300 was inconvenienced by 5 Sunshine Spirit which shifted out; Near the 1100 metres when being restrained got its head up and was ungenerous for several strides.
3 Sunshine Full Life (C Perkins) –Near the 1400 metres was obliged to ease off the heels of 4 Wonderful Four.
5 Sunshine Spirit (J Matthews) –Raced wide for the majority of the race.
6 Best Season (W L Ho) –Dipped near the 400 metres; Inside the 100 metres eased for a stride inconsequence to interference to its inside.
8 Windsor Arch Five (Apprentice C F Wong) –From the vicinity of the 1200 metres for some distance was inclined to race keenly.
9 Sunshine Stormy (Apprentice Y M Choi) –In the vicinity of the 200 metres was inclined to lay out.
10 Bingo Slam (M Cangas) –Inside the 100 metres was forced to check losing its position when tightened for room.
11 Luen Yat Cheers (R Silvera) –Jumped awkwardly.

INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into the circumstances in which 10 Bingo Slam (M Cangas) was forced to check inside the 100 metres. It was established that 3 Sunshine Full Life (C Perkins) shifted out under riding taking 9 Sunshine Stormy (Apprentice Y M Choi) out across the running of 10 Bingo Slam (M Cangas) which was forced to check. The Stewards charged Jockey C Perkins with careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that inside the 100 metres he had permitted to his mount to shift ground when insufficiently clear. Jockey C Perkins offered no plea to this charge. He was found guilty as charged and suspended from riding in races for a period of 5 racemeetings. On being informed of this penalty Jockey C Perkins requested he be permitted to take one day of suspension as a fine. The Stewards acceded to this submission and ordered the penalty be served as a suspension from riding in races for 4 racemeetings and a fine of HK$15,000. The Stewards ordered this suspension to take effect for the meetings of 28th and 29th March and 4th and 11th April 2014. He was advised of his Right of Appeal at 7:24pm.

Jockey R Curatolo the rider 1 Hostwin Donatello was questioned regarding his celebratory gesture after the winning post. After considering his explanation and reviewing the official vision, the Stewards advised Jockey R Curatolo that future celebrations were not to place other runners in unsafe situations as had incurred in this incident.

The Stewards inquired into the circumstances that 3 Sunshine Full Life (C Perkins) was obliged to ease near the 1400 metres. The Stewards established that 3 Sunshine Full Life was obliged to ease when racing inside 4 Wonderful Four (H Lam) as that runner shifted in. Jockey H Lam was reprimanded and advised in future to ensure his mounts were sufficiently clear prior to shifting ground.

4 Wonderful Four (H Lam) –A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
