Race Report

RACE-3 THE ARISTOPHANES RATING 60-40 (CLASS 3&4) 1100 METRES (295)

1 Charming Beijing (L Corrales) –Inside the 200 metres became held up for some distance and inside the 100 metres when briefly attempting to improve inside 5 Golden Bullet was unable to obtain clear ground and eventually had to alter course to improve
3 I Got Pictures (A Calder) –Jumped awkwardly.
4 Tornado Force (R Silvera) –Shortly after the start was inconvenienced when brushed.
6 Sharon Star (K Abobo) –Shortly after the start became inconvenienced when taken in.
7 Total Management (B Yamzon) –Reared as the gates opened.
10 Liver Pool (S G Cho) –Knuckled slightly and then jumped awkwardly.
11 Regan (C F Chan) –Jumped awkwardly. Trainer M C Tam was informed that the horse will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it had performed satisfactorily in a barrier trial.

INQUIRY:
The Stewards sought an explanation from Jockey L Corrales the rider of 1 Charming Beijing into the circumstances in which near the 100 metres he attempted a run inside 5 Golden Bullet (K H Yu) where in the opinion of the Stewards there was insufficient room. He explained that after entering the straight he had initially thought to improve into a run inside 2 Sure Win (W L Ho)
however felt this run was denied due to 5 Golden Bullet rolling out. He stated that approaching the 100 metres he had considered he could not shift wider due to the position of 2 Sure Win (W L Ho) and 3 I Got Pictures (A Calder) to his outside and as 5 Golden Bullet had previously displayed an inclination to lay out he felt his only option would be to anticipate 5 Golden Bullet rolling out further giving him sufficient room. He added that when that did not eventuate he decided to ease and shift across heels.

VETERINARY:
11 Regan (C F Chan) –A post race veterinary examination at the request of rider failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
12 River Brightenstar (M Cangas) –A post race veterinary examination at the request of rider failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
