Race Report

RACE-4 THE NATIVE DANCER 4YO 1500 METRES (296)

1 Hostwin Donatello (R Curatolo) –Approaching the 100 metres was brushed by 5 Sunshine Full Life; cast its right fore plate.
3 Sunshine Stormy (C Perkins) –Near the 1200 metres was forced to check losing its position.
5 Sunshine Full Life (L Corrales) –In the middle stages was inclined to race keenly; In the straight was inclined to lay out under pressure.
7 Beautiful Alloy (H Lam) –Making the turn near the 1200 metres laid in ;Near the 1100 metres was forced to check losing its position.
9 Luen Yat Command (K Abobo) –Near the 1300 metres when awkwardly placed initially shifted out away from heels and then rolled back and became awkward on the heels of 7 Beautiful Alloy for some distance.

INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into interference suffered by 9 Luen Yat Command (K Abobo) and 3 Sunshine Stormy (C Perkins) in the vicinity of the1200 metres in this event. The Stewards established that racing to the 1200 metres 9 Luen Yat Command had initially been taken out by 7 Beautiful Alloy (H Lam) resulting in 9 Luen Yat Command being awkwardly placed inside 1 Hostwin Donatello (R Curatolo), prior to 9 Luen Yat Command shifting out brushing1 Hostwin Donatello resulting in 9 Luen Yat Command becoming unbalanced and awkward on the heels of 7 Beautiful Alloy. Making the turn into the back straight 9 Luen Yat Command continued to be awkward on the heels of 7 Beautiful Alloy and shifted in onto 3 Sunshine Stormy (C Perkins) which was forced to check losing its position. After considering the evidence and reviewing the official vision, the Stewards took no action as they considered the racing manners of 9 Luen Yat Command had largely contributed to the incident, however Jockey K Abobo was cautioned that in similar circumstance in future, he would be better served to restrain his mount away from heels rather than persisting in placing his mount in an awkward position.

The Stewards inquired into the circumstances 7 Beautiful Alloy (H Lam) was checked losing its position in the vicinity of the 700 metres. The Stewards established that after initially rolling out making the turn into the back straight, 7 Beautiful Alloy had shifted back to the one wide position approaching the 1100 metres and was then forced to check when tightened for room by 1 Hostwin Donatello (R Curatolo) which shifted in. After considering the evidence and reviewing the official vision Jockey R Curatolo was charged with careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that he had taken 1 Hostwin Donatello (R Curatolo) in when insufficiently clear. Jockey R Curatolo pleaded guilty to the charge and was suspended from riding in races a period of three racemeetings to take effect on 16th, 18th & 24th May 2014. He was advised of his Right of Appeal at 5:52pm.

VETERINARY:
7 Beautiful Alloy (H Lam) –A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
