Race Report

RACE-3 THE SIR GAYLORD (TURF) RATING 40-0 (CLASS 5&6) 1950 METRES (302)
At 2:48pm Mr. K C Hoi the trainer of 9 Cargo Money (Apprentice C F Wong) advised the Stewards in order to take advantage of horse’s lighter weight, he had instructed Apprentice C F Wong to lead or if unable to do so in the early stages to stride forward. Mr Hoi advised that in future where circumstances permit 9 Cargo Money would continue to be ridden forward.

1 Wear A Smile (H Lam)-Was slow to jump. Trainer J Lau was informed that the horse will not be permitted to race for 11 days due to its unsatisfactory performance and until it has performed satisfactorily in a barrier trial.
2 Chinese Dragon (B Yamzon)-In the vicinity of 1300 metres raced keenly for some distance.
3 Elderly Pride (M Cangas)-At various stages raced wide.
5 Start It Now (A Calder)-Was slow into stride.
7 Sunshine Cheer Up (R Silvera)-Jumped awkwardly. From the vicinity of 1200 metres for some distance commenced to race keenly and was forced to steady off heels. When being restrained got its head up and raced ungenerously. After entering the straight was unable to obtain clear ground until approaching the 100 metres.
9 Cargo Money (Apprentice C F Wong)-Jumped awkwardly. Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
10 Coco Rocks (Apprentice Y M Choi)-At various stages raced wide.

INQUIRY:
Jockey M Cangas the rider of 3 Elderly Pride explained that he was instructed to obtain cover if possible which was consistent with the instruction provided at the previous start. However in the vicinity of 1300 metres he reported his mount changed lead legs on numerous occasions and did not appear to be comfortable in the going. He added from the 600 metres 3 Elderly Pride only responded fairly to his riding. Trainer was informed that he would be required to present the horse to the Veterinary Clinic for a thorough veterinary examination on Sunday, 27th April 2014.

1 Wear A Smile (H Lam) –A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
3 Elderly Pride (M Cangas) –A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
