Race Report

RACE-7 THE TREVISA (SAND) RATING 60-40 (CLASS 3&4) 1500 METRES (306)
1 Easy Choice (L Corrales) – Near the 300 metres rider dropped his whip. Rider issued with a reprimand.
7 At First Glance (M Cangas) –On jumping away brushed with 10 Turquoise Song.
8 Nothing To Say (C Perkins) –Making the turn near the 1200 metres was inconvenienced when tightened for room; Near the 1000 metres was obliged to ease when awkwardly placed between heels.
9 St Chalan (R Silvera) –Making the turn near the 1200 metres hung out.
10 Turquoise Song (B Yamzon) –On jumping away brushed 7 At First Glance.
11 Vitalitygreathorse (K H Yu) –Making the turn near the 1400 metres when being steadied off heels got its head up and attempted to run out proving difficult to manage; Rider reported his mount raced greenly at various stages of the race; Trainer K C Tse was informed that the horse will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed satisfactorily in a barrier trial.
12 Tron General (R Curatolo) –Jumped awkwardly; From the winning post made the turn wide; Raced wide for the majority of the event.

INQUIRY:
The Stewards sought an explanation from Jockey R Curatolo the rider of 12 Tron General into his riding of that runner leaving the straight on the first occasion in particular his reasons for not attempting to restrain to a trailing position. Jockey R Curatolo explained that he was of the view that in previous starts on the sand track the horse had not raced genuinely when receiving kickback. He was therefore content to maintain his position. After considering this explanation, the Stewards informed Jockey R Curatolo that in future where possible he would be expected to show greater initiative.

VETERINARY:
5 Pioneer Gem (J Matthews) – A post race veterinary examination revealed that the horse was making respiratory noises.
11 Vitalitygreathorse (K H Yu) –A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
