Race Report

RACE-2 THE THIRSK RATING 40-0 (CLASS 5&6) 1800 METRES (196)
Prior to the race Mr. S Chow the trainer of 9 Concentration (H Lam) which was having its first attempt over 1800 metres advised he would be instructing the rider to attempt to settle the gelding back in the field today in an endeavour to try and finish the race off. The gelding over raced and settled outside the leader.

1 Fortune Target (R Curatolo) – Dislodged its rider on the way to the barriers, was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race; Rider was examined by the Medical Officer and passed fit to continue riding; Was held up for a short distance rounding the home turn.
2 Yu Long Success (C F Chan) – Performed below market expectation; Rider reported that his mount was slow to begin, hung out for the majority of the race and he had to ride the gelding hard during the early and middle stages to maintain contact with the field. He added that his mount ran on fairly in the straight and highlighted that it was carrying top weight today of 130lbs which was a significant weight it was carrying compared to recent starts; A post race veterinary examination and swab was ordered by the Stewards.
4 Laughing World (M Cangas) –Jumped away very awkwardly; Was held up from the 600 metres until the entrance into the straight.
5 Rivers Elite (L Corrales) –Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages. The rider was severely reprimanded and advised that he should stop riding and straighten his mounts sooner than he did on this occasion.
6 Chinese Dragon (B Yamzon) –Rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight was unable to obtain a clear run.
9 Concentration (L Ham) –Raced keenly through the early and middle stages; Rider reported his saddle shifted near the 600 metres.

VETERINARY:
2 Yu Long Success (C F Chan) – A post race veterinary examination of 2 Yu Long Success which was disappointing failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
9 Concentration (L Ham) – A post race veterinary examination of 9 Concentration which performed poorly failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
