Race Report

RACE-6 THE RIPON RATING 80-60 (CLASS 2&3) 1500 METRES (200)
Prior to the race, Mr. A Ngai the trainer of 4 Windsor Arch Three (C Perkins) advised the Stewards that due to the wide alley he would be instructing the rider to settle the gelding back in the field with cover.

1 Best Season (W L Ho) –Marginally slow to begin; In the latter part of the event was momentarily held up; Disappointing A post race veterinary examination and swab was ordered by the Stewards.
6 Happy And Healthy (H Lam) –Marginally slow to begin.
8 Energy Gladiator (R Curatolo) –Broke down left fore fetlock and was subsequently euthanesed.

INQUIRY:
When questioned regarding as to why he had raced wide when he had drawn barrier 2, Jockey W L Ho the rider of 1 Best Season explained that the horse does not settle well in amongst other runners for this reason it is the normal racing pattern for it to be given clear running. Jockey W L Ho further stated that he was obliged to race wider than he would have liked after being caught on the outside of 9 Golden Harbour (C F Wong) as he did not have sufficient speed to cross ahead of 9 Golden Harbour.

When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of 2 Easy To Rich (B Yamzon), Trainer M C Tam stated that it was better suited by the 1500 metres of today’s event and at its last start was caught three wide over the 1800 metres and failed to run on.

VETERINARY:
1 Best Season (W L Ho) –A post race veterinary examination of 1 Best Season which was disappointing failed to reveal any significant abnormality
3 Smiling Happy (L Salles) –A post race veterinary examination of 3 Smiling Happy which was disappointing failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
