Race Report

RACE-2 Waldo Charity Trophy RATING 40-20 (CLASS 5) 1100 METRES (240)

1 Glory Moment (K H Yu) –Rider explained his mount was leaning on the side of the gates when the start was released and for this reason lost ground; Poor performance; A post race veterinary examination was ordered by the Stewards.
2 Golden Well Bo Bo (A Calder) –For a short distance near the 200 metres was steadied when unable to obtain clear running.
3 Double Up (C Perkins) –Rider explained that from a wide a wide alley the gelding had to work hard to obtain a forward position and also raced greenly and he was of the opinion that it would improve with today’s outing; Disappointing; A post race veterinary examination was ordered by the Stewards.
7 Liver Pool (Apprentice Y M Choi) –Raced three wide without cover throughout.
8 So True So Fake (L Corrales) –Struck the side of the barriers when the gates opened unbalancing its rider.
10 My Target (D Chong) –The gelding which had been restless in its barrier stalls bounded in the air as the gates were released and lost ground; During this incident the rider lost the use of his near side iron for some distance. Trainer Pat Lee was informed a warning had been placed on the gelding for its barrier manners and should it perform in a similar manner in future further action may be taken.
12 Treasure Pearl (H Lam) –Jumped awkwardly; Near the 400 metres laid in and had to be steadied off heels.

INQUIRY:
Prior to correct weight, the Stewards view the patrol film of the start to ascertain whether 1 Glory Moment (K H Yu) and 10 My Target (D Chong) were afforded a fair start. Following the review of the patrol films, the Stewards were satisfied both runners had been afforded a fair start and correct weight was semaphored.

Jockey L Corrales the rider of 8 So True So Fake pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that near the 700 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of 1 Glory Moment (K H Yu) which lost its rightful running and had to be checked. Jockey L Corrales had his license to ride suspended for a period of 2 race meetings being the race meetings of 10th and 17th April 2015. In determining penalty, the Stewards took into account his extremely good riding record, his guilty plea and that he had made some attempt to relieve the pressure however in their opinion it was not soon enough. He was advised of his right of Appeal at 5:30pm.

VETERINARY:
1 Glory Moment (K H Yu) –A post race veterinary examination of 1 Glory Moment which performed poorly failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
3 Double Up (C Perkins) –A post race veterinary examination of 3 Double Up which was disappointing failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
10 My Target (D Chong) –A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
