Race Report

Race-3 The Macau Race Horse Owners Association Charity Trophy RATING 70+ (CLASS 1) 1500 METRES (241)

1 Healthy Life (B Yamzon) –Marginally slow to begin; Poor performance; A post race veterinary examination was ordered by the Stewards.
2 Master Of Puppets (L Corrales) –Raced keenly through the early and middle stages.
4 Golden Double (C Perkins) –Approaching the 800 metres shifted out allowing 10 Haayil Shadow to improve to its inside and then raced tight with 10 Haayil Shadow for some distance, became unbalanced and had to be checked off heels.
8 Master Kabiddi (C F Wong) –Raced wide without cover before obtaining a position outside the leader near the 600 metres.

INQUIRY:
When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on 6 Luenyat Blackberry, Apprentice Y M Choi explained that he was instructed to let his mount settle where it was comfortable before putting it in under full pressure on straightening. He added that the gelding travelled well within itself towards the rear of the field and when he placed it under pressure on straightening it was one paced and raced like a tired horse. He added that in his opinion 6 Luenyat Blackberry may prefer more give in the ground. The Stewards advised Apprentice Y M Choi that although he did endeavour to ride to instructions he should have place his mount under pressure far earlier than he did on this occasion and that in future he is to ride in such a manner as to leave no room for query.

VETERINARY:
1 Healthy Life (B Yamzon) –A post race veterinary examination of 1 Healthy Life which performed poorly failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
