Race Report

RACE-3 THE GOLD BRIDGE RATING 55-0 (SPECIAL) 1350 METRES (368)

1 Speed Of King (Apprentice Y M Choi) –Was held up rounding the home turn when unable to obtain a clear run; Near the 900 metres steadied when racing close to the heels of 8 River Good Choice and then over raced for some distance.
2 Rayden (W L Ho) –Was slow to begin; Rider could offer no real excuses for the disappointing performance tonight other than that his mount failed to respond to his riding.
3 Salon (W Smith) –Shortly after the start bumped with 7 Truly Heart and then had to be steadied to avoid the heels of 5 Happiness In Peace which rolled out when laying out; Poor performance; Rider stated he had concerns with his mount’s action; A post race veterinary examination was ordered by the Stewards.
4 Truely Love (L Corrales) –Raced wide throughout
5 Happiness In Peace (C Perkins) –Raced ungenerously rounding the turn into the back straight.
9 Golden Cornered (C F Chan) –Poor performance; Rider stated that his mount would be better suited to a lower class event.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Jockey K H Yu was questioned as to why he went forward tonight on 8 River Good Choice which at its most recent starts had been ridden towards the rear of the field. He advised that he had been instructed to lead tonight. Trainer S H Cheong confirmed the instructions and advised that the gelding resents the kickback from the sand and for this reason he always instructs the riders to endeavour to take up a forward position. He added that at its previous two runs there had been more speed and 8 River Good Choice had not been able to maintain a forward position however tonight with the lack of speed the gelding was able to go forward and lead.

VETERINARY:
2 Rayden (W L Ho) –A post race veterinary examination of 2 Rayden which was disappointing failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
3 Salon (W Smith) –A post race veterinary examination of revealed that it was severely lame in the right foreleg. Trainer C F Chan was informed that the horse will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has passed a barrier trial and a veterinary clearance is produced.
9 Golden Cornered (C F Chan) –A post race veterinary examination of 9 Golden Cornered which performed poorly failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
