Race Report

RACE-4 THE COMMOTION RATING 60-40 (CLASS 3&4) 1050 METRES (369)

2 Central Station (L Salles) –After being placed in the barriers, got its right leg up on the ledge; Was then removed from the barriers and examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to race; Race
5 Windsor Arch Four (W L Ho) – Rider could offer no real excuses for the disappointing performance tonight, other than he felt that his mount would be better suited to races over a longer distance; A post race veterinary examination was ordered by the Stewards.
9 River God Choi (K W Leong) –For some distance from the 600 metres until near the 350 metres was held up when unable to improve its position.
10 Hostwin Helios (Apprentice K Y Wong) –Reared after being placed in the barriers, was removed from its barrier, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and deemed unfit to race and as such was withdrawn at 21:36; Trainer J M Moore was informed that 10 Hostwin Helios will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official trial prior to racing again.
12 I'M Unique (R Curatolo) –Raced three wide without cover.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Jockey K W Leong was questioned regarding his riding of 9 River God Choi. He explained that as the gelding has no early speed he had been instructed to settle where it was comfortable and to obtain a position close to the fence and save ground. He added that he was held up rounding the turn and was unable to shift to the outside of 3 Everything Good (Apprentice Y M Choi) as there was a runner ahead to his outside. He further explained that when a run presented near the 100 metres it was his intention to take this run however, when both runners shifted ground in front of him, he thought he may receive interference and for this reason he elected to shift to the outside to obtain an unimpeded run to the post. His comments were noted.

VETERINARY:
5 Windsor Arch Four (W L Ho) – A post race veterinary examination of 5 Windsor Arch Four which was disappointing failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
