Race Report

RACE-2 THE GOIANIA RATING 40-20 (CLASS 5) 1500 METRES (391)

2 Qiao Tou Win (D Chong) –Was slow to muster speed.
4 Explosive Blast (C Perkins) –Shortly after the start became extremely unbalanced after making contact with 11 Start It Now; Passing the 1300 metres had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of 9 Bobo Kawaii; Performed below market expectations; A post race veterinary examination was ordered by the Stewards.
5 Modena World (B Yamzon) –For some distance approaching and passing the 500 metres was held up when unable to obtain a clear run, however failed to run on in the straight.
7 Chinese Dragon (R Stewart) –From the 600 metres until approaching the 400 metres was held up when unable to obtain a clear run.
9 Bobo Kawaii (L Salles) - Poor performance; Rider reported that his mount failed to handle today’s heavy track; A post race veterinary examination was ordered by the Stewards.
11 Start It Now (R Curatolo) – Was marginally slow to begin and was then hampered when tightened for room between 8 My Eternal Flame and 4 Explosive Blast.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Rounding the turn near the 1200 metres 4 Explosive Blast (C Perkins) had to be checked to avoid the heels of 9 Bobo Kawaii (L Salles) which may had shifted out slightly when being steadied off the heels of 5 Modena World (B Yamzon) and after being taken in by 2 Qiao Tou Win (D Chong) which shifted in when not clear. In all the circumstances, the Stewards were not of the opinion that a careless riding charge against Jockey D Chong could be sustained, therefore he was issued with a severe reprimand and notified that he must allow sufficient room for runners when shifting ground at all times.

VETERINARY:
4 Explosive Blast (C Perkins) –A post race veterinary examination of 4 Explosive Blast which performed below market expectations failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
9 Bobo Kawaii (L Salles) –A post race veterinary examination of 9 Bobo Kawaii which performed poorly failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
