Race Report

RACE-5 THE BERLIN RATING 80-60 (CLASS 2&3) 1200 METRES (400)

1 Lobor Treasure (R Curatolo) - Poor performance; Rider reported his mount failed to handle the going; A post race veterinary examination was ordered by the Stewards.
3 Sunshine Mighty (B Yamzon)
4 Newton Prince (R Stewart) – Near the 250 metres had to be steadied to avoid the heels of 6 Windsor Arch Five which shifted out slightly; Rider of 6 Windsor Arch Five (W L Ho) was advised to exercise more care in future.
5 Win Smoothly (W Smith) –Shortly after the start had to be checked when tightened for room between 9 Valiant Soldier and 1 Lobor Treasure which shifted out.
10 Mission Well (H Lam) –Struck the side of the gates when jumping away and lost ground; Pulled very hard in the early and middle stages and near the 800 metres had to be steadied off heels; A post race veterinary examination was ordered by the Stewards and rider was questioned.
11 Wyoming (J Cordero) –Was slow to begin.
12 Ruling Elite (C F Chan) –Reared at the start and was slow to begin.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards questioned Jockey H Lam with regards to his riding of 10 Mission Well. He explained had been instructed to go forward however after beginning fairly there was significant speed from the horses to his inside and his mount could not match that speed so he elected to restrain and find a position closer to the rail however bearing in mind that the going was much superior off the fence. He added that near the 800 metres he was hampered by 1 Lobor Treasure (R Curatolo) which shifted in front of him which cost his mount some momentum and he them searched for better going and put his mount under full pressure on straightening as instructed. The Stewards noted Jockey H Lam’s comments.

VETERINARY:
1 Lobor Treasure (R Curatolo) – A post race veterinary examination of 1 Lobor Treasure which performed poorly failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
6 Windsor Arch Five (W L Ho) – A post race veterinary examination requested by the rider failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
10 Mission Well (C Perkins) – A post race veterinary examination of 10 Mission Well which performed poorly failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
