Race Report

RACE-5 THE OTTAWA RATING 60-40 (CLASS 3&4) 1050 METRES (412)
Prior to the event, Mr. S Chow the trainer of Great Idea (R Curatolo) advised the Stewards that the gelding will be ridden further back with cover from its wide alley. Great Idea (R Curatolo) settled towards the rear of the field.
Prior to the event, Mr. K H Leong the trainer of 4 King Achilles advised the Stewards that he would instruct his rider to take up a forward position from the wide alley. 4 King Achilles (B Yamzon) settled outside the leader.

1 Great Idea (R Curatolo) –Laid in in the straight.
2 Power Sequalo (K H Yu) –Disappointing performance; Rider reported that his horse failed to respond when placed under pressure.
9 Master Ma (H Lam) –Rider reported that his foot slipped on jumping away and that he regained the use of his right iron shortly after.
10 Red King (J Cordero) –Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground; Beaten in excess of 17 lengths; Rider explained that the gelding was first up today over 1050 metres and would be better suited over distances of 1500 to 1600 metres.
11 Oh So Simple (L Salles) –At the 300 metres became unbalanced and then laid in the straight under pressure.
12 Cool Brother (R Stewart) –Was marginally slow to begin; Rider reported his mount lugged in in the straight and he was of the opinion that he was racing in better company tonight.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The 2nd placed getter 4 King Achilles dislodged its rider B Yamzon on pulling up. Rider suffered an injury and was unable to weigh in. As the Stewards were satisfied that 4 King Achilles had carried the correct weight they declared correct weight on the Judge’s placings.

VETERINARY:
2 Power Sequalo (K H Yu) – A post race veterinary examination of 2 Power Sequalo which performed poorly failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
