Race Report

RACE-6 THE VANCOUVER RATING 80-60 (CLASS 2&3) 1350 METRES (413)

Mr. P Leyshan the trainer of 9 Woodney advised the Stewards that he would be instructing Jockey R Stewart to settle in a middle field position to allow it to finish off its race. 9 Woodney (R Stewart) settled just off midfield.

As Jockey B Yamzon who had sustained a laceration to knee had been stood down by the Club’s Medical Officer, the Stewards gave permission for Jockey K H Yu to be substituted as the rider of
5 Special Kid.

1 Best Of Luck (C F Chan) –Laid in near the 800 metres when struck with the whip and laid in in the straight under pressure.
2 Lobor Treasure (D Chong) –Poor performance;Trainer was informed that he would be required to present the horse to the Veterinary Clinic for a thorough veterinary examination on Saturday, 8th August 2015.
3 Vigor Partner (L Salles) –Stood flat footed and lost ground (2L); Trainer K S Wong was informed that a warning had been placed on and should it perform in a similar manner in future further action may be taken.
4 Gem Soldier (H Lam) –Raced wide without cover.
9 Woodney (R Stewart) –Approaching the 700 metres had to be steadied when tightened for room between 7 Sir Caspur and 1 Best Of Luck both of which shifted ground slightly; Rider reported that his mount commenced to give ground after passing the 200 metres and for this reason he did not preserve in his usual normal manner.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
When questioned Apprentice K Y Wong the rider of 8 Belgrade Nights explained that he had been instructed to settle his mount back which would allow it to run on in the straight. He explained that in trying to follow instructions he may have let his mount get too far out of its ground however he stated that he placed 8 Belgrade Nights under pressure from the 500 metres and it ran on well. The Stewards notified Apprentice K Y Wong that although he may endeavor to follow instructions, he must be mindful that he cannot conceded too great a lead from the leading horses and that he must make some attempt to put his mount into the race sooner than he did on this occasion.
