Race Report

RACE-3 THE KOREA RACING AUTHORITY GOODWILL TROPHY (TURF) RATING 80-60 (CLASS 2&3) 1500 METRES (309)
4 Haayil Shadow (C F Chan)-Jumped awkwardly.
6 Luenyat Blackberry (H Lam)-Raced wide throughout the event.
9 Luck Of The Dragon (M Cangas)-Jumped awkwardly and was unbalanced for several strides.
11 Classical Music (W T Pao)-Near the 800 meters obliged to steady off heels and then commenced to race keenly when being restrained; Inside the 800 metres steadied away from heels.

INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into the circumstances in which 11 Classical Music (W T Pao) was forced to steady near the 800 metres. It was established that 1 Smiling Happy (R Silvera) had shifted into the running of 11 Classical Music which was forced to steady off heels prior to commencing to race keenly and being taken out away from heels. After considering the evidence and reviewing the official vision the Stewards issued R Silvera with a severe reprimand for shifting ground when not sufficiently clear.

The Stewards sought an explanation from Jockey K H Yu as to the reasons he restrained 3 King Creole to a rearward position after the horse had jumped well. Jockey K H Yu explained he had been instructed from a wide barrier to attempt to obtain a position as close as possible to the inside rail in order to save ground. He said that after the start due to having runners to his inside he felt he would have little chance on obtaining the position as instructed unless he took his mount back. After being 3 wide with cover making the turn in the back straight he said he had elected to take hold to move a position closer to the rail. He stated that he had to niggle 3 King Creole to keep in touch with the field in the middle stages and had ridden vigorously from the vicinity of 600 metres. He added that in the straight 3 King Creole had finished its race generously. After considering the evidence and reviewing official vision, having regard to the similar manner in which the horse had been ridden in two of its recent starts the Stewards accepted K H Yu’s explanation.

2 Golden Harbour (C Perkins)- A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
3 King Creole (K H Yu)- A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
