Race Report

RACE-6 THE MUSKET RATING 70-40 (CLASS 3) 1800 METRES (106)
MIGHTY THOR (K W LEONG) jumped awkwardly losing ground.
MAKE MY HEART SING (APPRENTICE Y M CHOI) jumped awkwardly shifted out and bumped MAGNIFICENT FORCE (K K LEI).
MAGNIFICENT FORCE (K K LEI) raced wide rounding the first turn.
MAKE MY HEART SING (APPRENTICE Y M CHOI) raced wide until the 800 metres.
Near the 500 metres PERFECT CHINA (K M CHIN) became momentarily unbalanced after striking the heels of LAUGHING WORLD (M CANGAS), resulting in MAGIC FALCON (M NUNES) and SILK CUT (A HELFENBEIN) which were following being steadied in consequence.
Apprentice Y M CHOI the rider of MAKE MY HEART SING dropped his whip near the 100 metres . He was issued with a reprimand.
When questioned regarding his ride on MY CUP OF TEA, in particular the reason for not shifting out and around MAKE MY HEART SING (APPRENTICE Y M CHOI) to improve leaving the 700 metres, Jockey K F CHOI stated that MY CUP OF TEA was having its first start over 1800 metres in today’s race and he was instructed by the trainer to save ground, make a trail and not endeavour a long run if possible. He said that leaving the 700 metres MAKE MY HEART SING shifted out slightly and he improved into a tight run to its inside, however shortly after MAKE MY HEART SING shifted back in slightly resulting in him having to steady his mount and lose ground. He added that he was also quite surprised how quickly MAKE MY HEART SING had commenced to give ground at that point of the race as he was of the opinion that MAKE MY HEART SING would give him a favourable trail into the race. As a consequence he was then held up and unable to improve until entering the home straight. His explanation was noted however, Jockey K F CHOI was advised that he would be expected to ride all his mounts in such a manner as to leave no room for query whenever possible.
Mr. P LEYSHAN the trainer of MAKE MY HEART SING (APPRENTICE Y M CHOI) and Mr. J LAU the trainer of MIGHTY THOR (K W LEONG) were informed that both MAKE MY HEART SING and MIGHTY THOR will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until they have passed a barrier trial.
