Race Report

RACE-1 GRAND LISBOA CUP (GROUP 3) (TURF) OPEN 1500 METRES (343)
At 12:09pm K C Hoi, Trainer of 14 Sunshine Charming (Apprentice Y M Choi) which was resuming from the spell advised the Stewards that he would instruct Y M Choi to settle where the horse was comfortable.

2 Good Uncle (R Silvera)-In the vicinity of 800 metres was inclined to race keenly for some distance.
4 Master Kabiddi (B Yamzon)-Making the turn into the straight was inclined to lay in for several strides.
5 Let Me Run (K K Lai)-Raced wide throughout the event. From the vicinity of 400 metres was inclined to lay in under pressure. Approaching the 200 metres the rider lost his whip as it was struck out of his hand.
7 Happy Strength (W T Pao)-From the 1000metres towards the vicinity of 700 metres was inclined to get its head up and shift wider away from runners.
11 King Creole (M Nunes)-As the pace eased making the turn near 700 was forced to steady.
12 My Dark Chocolate (W L Ho)-Jumped awkwardly.
13 Haayil Shadow (C F Chan)-Jumped awkwardly.

INQUIRY:
Stewards sought the explanation from Jockey B Yamzon, the rider of 4 Master Kabiddi in the circumstance in which he covered unnecessary ground and caused 5 Let Me Run (K K Lai) to race wide throughout the race. Jockey B Yamzon advised that he has been instructed to avoid becoming crowded of 4 Master Kabiddi as in the Trainer’s opinion the horse did not race genuinely in this circumstance and he had attempted to race three horses wide to comply with his instructions.

The Stewards questioned Jockey L Corrales regarding the circumstance in which he was unable to make the weight as the rider of 4 Master Kabiddi necessitating his replacement. After considering his explanation he was charged under MJC Rule 14(xvii)(a) with Negligence. He pleaded guilty and was fined the sum of HK$5000.

5 Let Me Run (K K Lai)-A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
6 Golden Spiritual (Apprentice C F Wong)-A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
