RACE-3 MACAU HONG KONG TROPHY (GROUP 1) (TURF) RATING 125-95 (CLASS 1) 1500 METRES (345)
6 Lucky And Wealthy (M Nunes)-Making the turn near the 700 metres commence to lay out and continuous to lay out until entering the straight.
7 My Name Is Bond (J Moreira)-Jumped awkwardly.
9 Just In Time (H Lam)-Jumped awkwardly. Making the turn into the straight became awkward for several strides when inclined to layout onto heels. Trainer Y C Fung was informed that the horse will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed satisfactorily in a barrier trial.

INQUIRY:
The Stewards sought an explanation from Jockey H Lam into his riding of 9 Just In Time and in particular his reasons for attempting to challenge 1 Wonder Mossman (C Perkins) mid race. H Lam explained that he had been instructed to push forward to race on pace and from the 1000 metres attempt to take the lead away from 1 Wonder Mossman if possible. H Lam explained that he had not considered he could lead 1 Wonder Mossman and continued to race outside that runner until the vicinity of the 600 metres where it came under pressure. Mr Y C Fung the trainer of 9 Just In Time confirmed his instructions and said that in consultation with the horse’s owner it had been decided to exploit the weight difference of 19 lbs in 9 Just In Time favour. Mr Fung conceded he had sufficient time to notify the Stewards as required. After considering the explanations the Stewards advised Mr Fung that in their opinion the instructions provided were ambitious having regard to the likely tempo of the race and the fact the horse was having its first start at 1500 metres. The Stewards issued Mr Fung with a reprimand and advised him in similar circumstances in future he would be expected to inform Stewards of similar variations to instructions as required by the rules.
