Race Report

RACE-1 THE KIMBERLY RATING 30-0 (CLASS 5&6) 1500 METRES (49)

3 Triple Fortune (A Calder) –Was slow to jump.
5 Twiningoceanstarbo (J Horcajada) –Raced wide throughout.
7 Sealand Treasure (M Cangas) –Raced wide rounding the first turn.
8 Mighty Thor (W L Ho) –Bumped by 9 Shadow Master shortly after the start.
9 Shadow Master (Apprentice K Y Wong) –Hampered shortly after the start by 4 Florence Spirit which shifted out.
10 Yu Long Success (Apprentice Y M Choi) –Hung out rounding the first turn and was inclined to hang out throughout the race. Trainer K C Hoi was informed that a warning had been placed against the horse for its racing manners.

INQUIRY:
The Stewards questioned Jockey J Horcajada in regards to his ride on 5 Twiningoceanstarbo, in particular the reasons he elected to maintain a three wide position rounding the first turn, when there appeared to be an opportunity to obtain a position one off the running rail behind 8 Mighty Thor (W L Ho). Jockey J Horcajada stated that he was instructed by Trainer M C Tam to try and have the horse in a handy position if possible just in behind the leaders. He added that 5 Twiningoceanstarbo jumped well from the outside barrier and that racing to the first turn, he had considered shifting in to a position behind 8 Mighty Thor (W L Ho) however bearing in mind his instructions he elected to remain three wide and improve his position. He further stated that racing down the back straight he was unable to obtain a position closer than three wide due to 8 Mighty Thor racing to his inside and as a result 5 Twiningoceanstarbo was forced to race without cover. After considering all the circumstances, the Stewards advised Jockey J Horcajada that they would record his explanation, however advised him that although he was trying to comply with the trainer’s instructions, it is ultimately his responsibility to ride and adapt to the circumstances of the race. He was also advised that he is to ensure that he rides in a manner that does not leave room for query.

VETERINARY:
1 Keep It Rolling (B Yamzon) – A post veterinary examination revealed that the horse was severely lame in the right foreleg. Trainer K C Wong was informed that the horse will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has passed a barrier trial and a veterinary examination is produced.
