Race Report

RACE-1 THE DELHI RATING 30-0 (CLASS 5&6) 1100 METRES (414)
At 7:15pm due to heavy rain, the track was downgraded to “Heavy”.

1 Mission Fortune (Apprentice Y M Choi) – Disappointing performance; Rider reported that his mount did not handle the going.
3 Cutey Bear (L Corrales) –Jumped awkwardly, made contact with 2 Rivers Elite and lost ground; Performed below market expectation; A post race veterinary examination was ordered by the Stewards; Rider stated that his mount was restless in the barriers and after losing ground at the start the horse failed to respond to his riding and may have come to the end of its preparation.
4 Best Jade Luck (R Stewart) –Got its head up and raced ungenerously in the early stages.
5 Macau Health (L Salles) –Was difficult to load delaying the start of the race; Trainer K M Chin was informed that a warning had been placed on 5 Macau Health and should it perform in a similar manner in future further action may be taken.
7 Delight Consul (C F Wong) –Was marginally slow to begin; Race three wide without cover.
8 Concentration (K H Yu) –After passing the 400 metres had to be steadied when tightened for room by 6 Twiningoceanstarbo which shifted in and away from 7 Delight Consul which rolled in before being straightened by its rider; Rider of 7 Delight Consul (C F Wong) was advised to make a greater effort to keep his mount straight at all times; Laid out in the straight.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:

When questioned as to why he led tonight on 6 Twiningoceanstarbo when the gelding normal races in a mid to rear position, Jockey W L Ho stated that he was instructed to place the gelding where it was comfortable. He added that after beginning well and due to the lack of speed he was able to settle comfortable in a forward position. Trainer K M Chin confirmed the instruction.

When questioned as to why he went forward tonight on 7 Delight Consul when the gelding normally settles at the rear, Jockey C F Wong the rider of 7 Delight Consul stated that he was instructed to ride the gelding in a forward position. Trainer Pat Lee confirmed the instructions. He further advised Stewards that his instruction has been similar to that on previous occasions and it was just that tonight the horse had begun well and was able to take up a forward position.

VETERINARY:
1 Mission Fortune (Apprentice Y M Choi) –A post race veterinary examination of 1 Mission Fortune which was disappointing failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
3 Cutey Bear (L Corrales) –A post race veterinary examination of 3 Cutey Bear which performed below market expectations failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
