Race Report

RACE-6 THE AHMADABAD RATING 95-70 (CLASS 1&2) 1200 METRES (419)

3 Sunshine Tacker (C Perkins) –Shortly after the start had to be steadied off the heels of 1 Just In Time which shifted in when not quite clear; Rider of 1 Just In Time (L Corrales) was issued with a severe reprimand for permitting his mount to shift in when not quite clear.
4 The Whirlwind (D Chong) –Raced very wide rounding the home turn taking 7 Cali Champion out off its course.
7 Cali Champion (Apprentice Y M Choi) –Rounding the home turn was forced wide by 4 The Whirlwind.
10 Let Me Run (H Lam) –On jumping away made contact with 12 Win Smoothly and became unbalanced.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Prior to correct weight, Jockey R Curatolo the rider of 9 Lucky Winston (R Curatolo), 4th place getter requested to view the patrol film of the race following which he lodged an objection against 8 My Lucky Baby (C F Wong), the 2nd placed getter for alleged interference inside the 100 metres. It was established that approaching the winning post 8 My Lucky Baby (C F Wong)
shifted out resulting in 9 Lucky Winston being taken out off its course and checked, however after considering the beaten margin of one and a half lengths and the proximity to the winning post, the Stewards dismissed the objection.

At a subsequent inquiry Jockey C F Wong the rider of 8 My Lucky Baby pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that approaching the winning post he permitted his mount to shift out resulting in 7 Cali Champion (R Curatolo) being taken out off its course and having to be checked. Jockey Wong’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 2 racemeetings covering the meetings of 28th and 30th August 2015. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey C F Wong’s guilty plea, his good record and the severity of the interference. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

VETERINARY:
1 Just In Time (L Corrales) –A post race veterinary examination of 1 Just In Time which performed poorly failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
