Race Report

RACE-7 THE CLYDE (DIV.2) RATING 80-60 (CLASS 2&3) 1200 METRES (186)

4 Cali Champion (H Lam) –Jumped awkwardly; In the early stages raced greenly.
7 Companion (J Matthews) –Jumped awkwardly.
8 Yue Sing (L Corrales) –Inside the 300 metres was inconvenienced when obliged to steady for a couple of strides when tightened for room.
10 Golden Kalbar (S G Cho) –Knuckled on jumping.
11 Giant Steps (K H Yu) –Near the 800 metres was obliged to ease when momentarily tightened for room.
12 Golden Double (W L Ho) –Near the 900 metres was inconvenienced when taken in and became unbalanced as it overreacted.

INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into the circumstance in which 11 Giant Steps (K H Yu) was tightened for room in the vicinity of the 800 metres. It was established that 4 Cali Champion (H Lam) which was having its 3rd race start had raced greenly in the early stages of the race and passing the 800 metres had rolled in for several strides inconveniencing 11 Giant Steps Inside the 800 metres just prior to the turn 4 Cali Champion had rolled in again causing 11 Giant Steps to be checked. As the Stewards considered the racing manners of 4 Cali Champion had contributed to the incident in the circumstances they issued a reprimand to Jockey H Lam and advised him in similar circumstances in future to be sure he is sufficiently clear prior to shifting ground.

Jockey L Corrales the rider of 8 Yue Sing explained that he had been instructed to go forward if possible and settle close to the pace. He stated that 8 Yue Sing had settled forward and had travelled well however after being tightened briefly on entering the straight his mount had finished only fairly.

Jockey R Silvera the rider of 3 Brave Panda (R Silvera) explained that his mount had not begun as well as in recent starts and consequently from barrier 11, it had always been under pressure to obtain a position outside the leader. He stated that although 3 Brave Panda had travel well from the entrance to the straight had not responded to his riding in its usual manner. He added that he considered that the early effort in this higher class race had contributed to the performance.

VETERINARY:
8 Yue Sing (L Corrales) –A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
