Race Report

RACE-4 THE PETERBOROUGH RATING 60-40 (CLASS 3&4) 1050 METRES (291)
Prior to the event, Trainer J W Moore informed the Stewards that he would instruct Jockey C Perkins the rider of 6 Happy Orchard to attempt to lead tonight as it resents the kickback. 6 Happy Orchard settled in a forward position.

1 Full Of Vitality (L Salles) –Stood flat footed and lost ground (2L); Poor performance; Rider stated that his mount traveled well during the race however failed to respond when put pressure; He was of the opinion, that the gelding which was first up today, it would improve with the run; A post race veterinary examination was ordered by the Stewards.
4 King Achilles (W Smith) –Was marginally slow to begin; Over raced during the early stages and raced very wide without cover from the 700 metres.
7 Speed Of King (Apprentice K Y Wong) –Raced five wide without cover throughout.
9 Master Ma (H Lam) –Got its head up when over racing during the early and middle stages
10 Sweet Moment (C F Wong) –Raced four wide without cover throughout
11 River Good Boy (D Chong) – Blundered when the gates opened; Over the concluding stages had to be steadied when disappointed for a run between 12 Jade Elite and 10 Sweet Moment which shifted in slightly.
12 Jade Elite (C F Chan) –Jumped away awkwardly

INQUIRY:
When questioned regarding the apparent change of tactics for 3 Great Idea (K H Yu) which went forward tonight, which is in contrast to its most recent runs where it had been settling towards to rear of the field, Trainer S Chow explained that he had issued the same instructions as in the past, that is to go forward, however tonight was the first time that the gelding obtained this position. He further added that since 3 Great Idea’s last run on 10th of April 2015, he discovered the gelding had some foot problems and had the farrier apply equilox to it. He was of the opinion that this greatly assisted the horse tonight.

VETERINARY:
1 Full Of Vitality (L Salles) –A post race veterinary examination of 1 Full Of Vitality which performed poorly failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
7 Speed Of King (Apprentice K Y Wong) –A post race veterinary examination of revealed that the horse had bled from one nostril.
